Overview
An established global manufacturer of engineered rubber, metal, and Chassis & Suspension components is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead business development throughout North America. This executive-level position is responsible for driving profitable growth with Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers while leading a high-performing sales organization.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a strategic sales leader with deep automotive supplier experience who enjoys securing new business, developing customer relationships, and helping shape the future growth of a rapidly expanding manufacturing organization.
We are seeking an energetic and strategic Sales Director who has prior experience with sales of chassis & suspension and rubber parts to Automotive OEMs and Tier suppliers. This role will work closely with customer Purchasing, Engineering and Quality organizations and internal Engineering, Operations, Quality and Finance functions.
Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive sales strategies aligned with company objectives and technology solutions.
- Lead, manage, and motivate a team of account managers.
- Indirectly lead a team of account managers, project manager and engineers.
- Drive outside sales efforts by identifying new business opportunities, cultivating client relationships, and expanding our customer base through proactive outreach.
- Oversee the entire sales cycle from prospecting to deal closing, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
- Utilize CRM systems such as 123Go to track pipeline activity, analyze sales data, generate reports, and optimize sales performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product development, and technical teams to align strategies and deliver tailored solutions to clients.
- Conduct regular analysis of sales metrics using analytics tools to identify trends, forecast revenue, and refine tactics for continuous improvement.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute the North American sales strategy to achieve aggressive growth objectives.
- Build, lead, mentor, and expand an internal sales organization.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities with Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and industrial customers.
- Generate new RFQ opportunities through prospecting, networking, industry events, and strategic outreach.
- Build long-term relationships with purchasing, engineering, and executive decision-makers.
- Lead commercial negotiations and secure new business awards.
- Coordinate quotation activities with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Program Management.
- Expand market presence through new product applications and market diversification.
- Develop and communicate compelling customer value propositions.
- Analyze competitors, market trends, and customer requirements to identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure customer qualification requirements are completed to gain sourcing approvals.
- Develop sales forecasts, budgets, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor sales performance and report results to executive leadership.
- Manage external sales representatives and distributors where applicable.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings throughout North America.
- Develop and implement sales processes, procedures, and best practices.
- Coach and develop future sales leaders.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of B2B sales experience within manufacturing.
- Minimum 5 years of sales leadership experience.
- Proven success selling to Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Experience with chassis, suspension, rubber, metal, or engineered components.
- Demonstrated ability to generate new business and win competitive programs.
- Strong negotiation and executive presentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems (Salesforce experience preferred).
- Willingness to travel regularly throughout North America.
Preferred
- Master's Degree (MBA or related discipline).
- Existing relationships within Automotive OEM purchasing, Engineering and Quality organizations.
- Extensive experience with Stellantis
