Position Overview:
The Hub Route Driver plays a critical role in ensuring customers receive the parts they need in a timely and efficient manner by transporting Aesop inventory between locations for final-mile distribution. This position operates a tractor-trailer on a nightly route departing from our with a preloaded truck, traveling to our Cleveland, TN hub. Upon arrival, the driver becomes an active member of the cross-dock team, assisting with the unloading and reloading of freight. After completing loading operations, the driver returns to the origination site, performs a post-trip inspection, and concludes the shift. In addition, strict adherence to safety procedures and traffic laws is essential to minimize the risk of accidents and associated costs, contributing to the overall operational efficiency and financial success of the organization.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
1. Drive
- Knowledge of common routes, and ability to plan and keep focused while transporting parts from one location to another.
- Ensure that goods or materials are transported safely, efficiently, on time, and in good condition to each location.
- Comply with federal and state regulations governing the operation of commercial motor vehicles, including adhering to hours-of-service regulations, and maintaining vehicle logs.
- Ensure any vehicle maintenance or repair issues are communicated to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Take mandatory 30-minute break within 8 hours of shift.
2. Safety
- Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle safety inspections and reports.
- Safe operation of the vehicle and compliance with regulations set forth by the Department of Transportation.
- Follow Company safety procedures and protocols; including but not limited to speed limits, driver courtesy, and construction zone awareness.
- Report all driving violations, vehicle operational concerns, or damage immediately regardless of perceived significance.
3. Unload and Load
- Report to the supervisor upon arrival at the hub and begin unloading and loading operations
- Follow proper unloading and loading procedures, ensuring that the parts are secured properly and will not be damaged during transit.
- Use the appropriate parts handling equipment, properly distribute the weight of the parts, and follow safety protocols.
- Unloading, sorting and reloading will require a combination of manual lifting and forklift use.
- Complete pre- and post-trip inventory or manifest checklists, and report any in-transit or delivery damage.
- Work as a team with coworkers and supervisor to ensure efficient and safe movement of parts.
4. Perform Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- CDL License is required.
- Valid and clear Commercial driver’s license
- Valid Medical DOT Card
- Meet Motor Vehicle Record requirements for safety.
- 1-year minimum professional/commercial driving experience
- Forklift Experience preferred, training provided if needed.
- Automotive experience preferred
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Location-based State Certifications and Endorsements may be required.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Must be able to work effectively alone or with others in a team environment.
- Must be able to work collaboratively across functions.
- Must be a self-starter with the demonstrated ability to meet timelines and schedules related to essential functions described above.
Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

- Must be able to consistently remain in a seated stationary position and operate a delivery vehicle for long periods of the day.
- Must be able to ambulate frequently in and out of delivery vehicles ascending/descending ladders, stairs, ramps, and the like.
- Must be able to use hands, arms, and fingers consistently.
- Frequently ambulate in different positions to accomplish loading and unloading tasks and safety inspections.
- Ability to use both hands regularly with enough dexterity to safely operate basic hand and power tools occasionally.
- Must be able to safely communicate with others to exchange information.
- Ability to lift, move, and carry objects and materials up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.

- Ability to work occasional overtime as needed as determined by the employee’s supervisor.
