Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Produce Manager to lead our fresh produce department with enthusiasm and expertise. Duties
- Lead the produce department by supervising staff, assigning tasks, and fostering a positive team environment focused on teamwork and excellence.
- Manage inventory control by ordering fresh produce, monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and minimizing waste through effective rotation and storage practices.
- Ensure product quality by inspecting deliveries, overseeing proper handling, and maintaining high standards for freshness, appearance, and safety compliance.
- Implement merchandising strategies to showcase produce attractively, optimize sales, and promote seasonal or promotional items through creative displays.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers with inquiries, offering product recommendations, and resolving any concerns promptly.
- Oversee pricing strategies to ensure competitive rates while maintaining profitability; adjust prices based on market trends and store policies.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on proper stocking procedures, safety protocols, and customer service skills to enhance overall store performance.
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail grocery or produce departments.
- Demonstrated expertise in inventory management, purchasing, merchandising, and sales management within a grocery store environment.
- Strong communication skills
- Experience with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in employee orientation, interviewing new hires, training & development initiatives, budgeting, and store management will be considered advantageous.
