Position Summary:
This seasonal position is directly responsible for the setup, facilitation, and breakdown of scheduled high adventure activities, specifically lifeguarding at Mah-Kah-Wee Program Center in Chuluota, FL. Lifeguard shifts are usually scheduled on Saturdays but could be scheduled during the week as well if facilitator availability aligns. Facilitators must hold current certification(s) in the assigned activity or be willing to be trained. Training to facilitate additional activities, including Small Craft, Challenge Course, Archery, and Axe Throwing, is available. Location assignments will vary based on the current business needs of Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, Inc. (GSC).
Essential Functions:
Responsible for the overall safety, operations and facilitation of the scheduled activities, while providing program opportunities to troops and/or groups.
Compliance with all safety guidelines set forth by Girl Scouts of Citrus Council, Inc. (GSC), Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) and/or all local and industry governing bodies.
Encourage personal and skill development, a strong sense of self and overall well-being .
Assist adults with any issues that may present themselves while you are leading the activity.
Ensure proper care, inventory and use of all activity equipment, program area and supplies.
Complete and submit all required paperwork and reports as directed after each shift or as requested.
Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings, in-service days, skill assessments and staff meetings that are required as part of this position.
Respect wildlife, be an environmental steward, and ensure proper care of camp equipment.
Serve as a role model; maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude.
Establish and maintain a good working relationship with all staff.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Outdoor Program Manager.
Education & Experience:
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must have lifeguard certification or be willing to obtain.
Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR.
Successful clearance of a Level 2 Criminal Background Screening, the National Sexual Offender Public Website and completion of GSUSA Girl Scouts Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Course.
Have a current GSUSA membership or be willing to obtain one prior to beginning work.
Must have a current Health History on file.
Preferred:
Experience in Girl Scouting
Experience working with youth in a group or camp setting
Bi-lingual (Spanish and English)

Ability to work for long hours standing, walking, and/or sitting while being exposed to the sun, heat, wildlife, and varying weather conditions daily.
Ability to occasionally climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
