Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Banquet Captain to lead our event service team and ensure seamless, memorable guest experiences. This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet operations during events, from setup to execution and breakdown, while maintaining exceptional service standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively with both guests and staff, and takes pride in delivering high-quality hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise banquet staff during events, assigning duties and ensuring smooth service execution
- Act as the main point of contact for event hosts, ensuring all needs are met promptly and professionally
- Review and execute all event details according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs)
- Inspect event setup, including tables, chairs, and décor, to ensure accuracy and quality standards
- Coordinate food and beverage service between kitchen and front-of-house teams
- Monitor guest satisfaction and resolve any issues quickly and professionally
- Oversee responsible alcohol service and address any concerns related to intoxication
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet spaces in collaboration with housekeeping
- Complete post-event reports, billing, and required documentation
- Manage opening and closing side work, including strike and inspection duties
- Train, coach, and support banquet staff to maintain high service standards
- Assist with service as needed, including serving or bartending during peak times
- Help manage inventory and minimize waste
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in hospitality, preferably in banquet service, restaurant service, or event management
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to lead, motivate, and support a team in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards and safety regulations
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift and move tables, chairs, and event equipment (up to [insert weight, e.g., 40 lbs])
- Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedule
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
