Job Summary

Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation.
- Administer medications and injections accurately following established protocols, including IV infusions and medication management.
- Utilize advanced EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth to document patient care activities meticulously and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with complex procedures such as suturing, catheterization, tube feeding, and ventilator management, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on discharge planning, case management, and coordination of care for diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Respond swiftly to emergency situations utilizing critical care procedures like airway management and acute pain management in high-pressure environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or ICU settings.
- Support infection control protocols and participate in diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection and processing.
Skills
- Proven experience working in various healthcare environments such as hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, NICU/PICU, outpatient clinics, or long-term care facilities.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical documentation standards.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or Athenahealth; familiarity with laboratory experience and diagnostic imaging is a plus.
- Skilled in performing advanced nursing procedures such as IV insertion, phlebotomy, sterile processing, ostomy care, and wound suturing.
- Excellent patient assessment skills with the ability to triage effectively in urgent care or emergency room settings; experience working with trauma medicine or level II/Level I trauma centers is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining excellent communication within multidisciplinary teams; experience working with individuals with disabilities or memory care needs is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law related to occupational health cases; experience in hospice & palliative medicine or behavioral health is beneficial.
