About the Job:
Hello! My name is Natalie, and I’m a 31-year-old film school graduate with Muscular Dystrophy. I am looking to hire 3-4 awesome individuals to join my team of personal assistants. You do NOT need prior experience working with people with disabilities—just a willingness to help and an open mind!
This is a position that’s ideal for students, or anyone looking to fit in work between other commitments, but it can also be a full-time position if your availability allows. The hours are flexible, and the schedule is based on the availability you submit during the interview process, making it easy to work around your personal obligations or another job.
Job Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting with daily living tasks, such as helping me get in and out of bed, showering, dressing, etc.
- Cooking and preparing meals
- Housekeeping tasks like cleaning and laundry
- Accompanying me to appointments, events, and community activities (including concerts, museums, movies, etc.)
- Traveling with me, including occasional in and out-of-state overnight trips and vacations
- Supporting me in various tasks throughout the day
- Assisting with my service dog
This role requires maturity, responsibility, and strong communication skills, as I depend on my assistants to thrive. You’ll be an essential part of my team, helping me with both daily tasks and special events.
Ideal Candidate:
- Open-minded, social, and fun
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to work independently
- Punctual, organized, and strong
- A dog lover, active, and fit (able to physically lift and transfer me, turn me in bed, and adjust me in my wheelchair after training)
- A good driver with a valid driver’s license
- Accompanying me during travel, including occasional in an out-of-state trips and vacations
- Enjoys being outdoors, being active, attending concerts, movies, events, and traveling
- Must be available at least 1-3 days per week (more is a plus!)
- Ability to legally work in the USA
- Must comply with some COVID precautions
