Position Summary:
The Cook is responsible for preparing and serving food to the residents in a safe, appetizing, and friendly manner. The Cook is responsible for being in charge of the kitchen and the staff when the Manager is not present. They are to ensure that the mealtimes run smoothly. There are many duties associated with being the Cook, they are widely varied according to the needs of the day/evening, and the specific residents and staff who are being served.
Key Responsibilities:

Comes to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality

Presents at work in a clean, neat uniform and a professional appearance

Shows aptitude in preparing and prepping the food according to the menu
- Has ability to clean the Grill, Rehab area, and the kitchen area

Ability to sweep and mop areas as required

Take out trash, pick up dishes and clean tables in the Rehab area, sweep and mop
- Ability to back up the operator of the dish cleaning machine and wash all pots, pans, dishware
- Keeps kitchen, dining areas, storerooms and dishwashing areas clean, sanitized, tidy and orderly by utilizing all tools necessary such as mops, brooms, trash receptacles, approved chemicals, etc.

Keeps all dining room tables, chairs, drink stations and condiment areas clean and sanitize and tidy using appropriate tools as above

Keep salad bar clean and filled, labeling containers; cleaning inside and outside of salad bar

Performs the duties of the position in an efficient manner while maintaining a positive attitude and general positive nature towards all residents and other staff and visitors

Reports all issues with equipment such as failures or breakages to manager immediately

Reports all issues with regard to missing, spoiled, excessive food items to dietary manager immediately

Follows guidance from the CDM and/or Administrator, performing duties as assigned

Completes assigned monthly automated learning in accordance with Homestead Policy
Qualifications:

Prior experience in healthcare foodservice preferred
-
High school diploma or equivalent education
- Ability to multitask in regard to preparing, serving, and meeting customer needs

Demonstrated initiative and desire to promote a teamwork atmosphere
Work Environment:

Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

Able to withstand extreme temperatures, hot and cold

Able to work long hours, including scheduled evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Able to interact positively with all demographics of people
