Duties
- Prepare and assemble meals according to established recipes and dietary guidelines, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Assist with menu planning by suggesting new dishes and accommodating the dietary needs of our assisted living community.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, and other culinary tools.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas by adhering to strict sanitation standards, including proper food handling and waste disposal.
- Support food preparation activities such as slicing, chopping, cooking, and plating to meet meal schedules.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate meal production and ensure smooth operations.
- Follow all safety standards in food production to prevent contamination or accidents, maintaining a safe environment for all team members.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable.
- Proven food service experience in restaurants or catering environments demonstrating strong culinary skills.
- Knowledge of food safety management practices and adherence to safety standards in production.
- Skilled in recipe adherence, meal preparation, and food handling techniques.
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for efficient food prep.
- Ability to operate various kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff and ensure timely meal delivery.
- Experience with menu planning, food industry standards, and serving is a plus.
