The Legal Aid Society of Rockland County (LASRC) seeks a full-time paralegal for its Children's Rights Division in our New City, NY office.
Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys with client interviews and other assigned tasks and projects.
Opening and closing cases when received by the Family Court.
Drafting, preparing, and filing legal documents with the court. Some legal research is required.
Maintenance of files, completion of requisite office forms, and familiarity with office procedures; familiarity with Microsoft 365 application required; familiarity with case management application preferred.
Keeping abreast of latest developments in areas of specialization.
Qualifications:
Able to manage a schedule and complete required tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
Computer proficient.
Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Yiddish is a plus, but not required.
Program Profile: Rockland County is a suburban region located 30 miles northwest of New York City. LASRC has represented income-eligible clients in civil cases since its inception in 1965 and has represented children in family court since 1989. Our clients are racially, religiously, and linguistically diverse.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience. The salary range is $54,317 – $76,145, depending on experience. Excellent benefits, including 401(k), paid time off, and health, dental, and vision insurance.
Schedule: Monday -- Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
