General Summary
Every member of the Asheville PEAK Academy team and family plays a critical role in ensuring our students have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to reach their full potential, but there is no one person more critical to the success of a student than the teacher. Educators at Asheville PEAK Academy will be passionate advocates for their students and their families, working tirelessly to ensure they meet their students where they are, provide dynamic, purposeful instruction, and provide the support that their students need to thrive. The Exceptional Children’s Teacher (ECT) is responsible for assessing individual student needs in order to develop and monitor students’ Individual Education Plan (I.E.P). This person will collaborate and plan with instructional staff members to plan and implement specific instructional programs that meet the individual needs of students. The ECT will build lasting relationships with students, their families, and the community to ensure students develop competencies and skills needed to be successful in college and in life. Each teacher will embody the school mission and values as they work closely with the school director to ensure data is used to drive instruction and that the needs of each child are being met. Every APA staff member is a school ambassador and is expected to promote the school throughout the community.
