Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team! This vital role offers an exciting opportunity to be the first point of contact for patients, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience from the moment they walk through the door. As a Medical Receptionist, you will manage appointment scheduling, handle medical records, verify insurance information, and provide exceptional patient service—all while maintaining strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and health information management standards. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their identity, and facilitate check-in procedures with professionalism and enthusiasm
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record - Nextgen
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process pre-authorizations for procedures and treatments
- Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems; provide clear information and direct inquiries appropriately
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation, updating patient files, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with billing processes including medical collection activities.
- Support clinical staff by preparing patient intake forms, reviewing care plans, and managing appointment reminders efficiently
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role within clinics or healthcare facilities
- Strong knowledge of EHR systems.
- Comprehensive understanding of health insurance protocols including verification processes for Medicare and other insurers
- Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), and medical billing procedures
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and typing (including 10 key typing)
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive patient information with discretion in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
