Job Description
Carolina Builders and Design LLC is seeking a motivated Project Engineer to join our growing team and support the construction of commercial projects throughout North Carolina. This position will play a key role in coordinating project documentation, subcontractors, procurement, scheduling, and field operations while working closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to build a long-term career in commercial construction. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience on ground-up projects while developing into a future Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Support the Project Manager with daily project coordination and administration.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project correspondence.
- Maintain project documentation and logs using Procore.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Review construction drawings and specifications for coordination and completeness.
- Track procurement, long-lead materials, and equipment deliveries.
- Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules and look-ahead plans.
- Coordinate inspections, testing, permits, and project closeout requirements.
- Monitor project progress, budgets, commitments, and cost tracking.
- Prepare meeting agendas and distribute meeting minutes.
- Assist with subcontractor pay applications and owner billing documentation.
- Perform regular jobsite visits to coordinate with the Superintendent and resolve field issues.
- Support punch list completion, closeout documentation, as-built drawings, warranties, and O&M manuals.
- Ensure project records are accurate, organized, and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- 5 years of commercial construction experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with Procore and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.
- OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
