Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, arranging supplies, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly before procedures begin.
- Assist surgical teams by passing instruments, sutures, and other sterile supplies during surgeries with precision and efficiency.
- Maintain strict sterile techniques to prevent infections and ensure patient safety throughout procedures.
- Monitor and manage surgical instruments and supplies during operations, ensuring everything is accounted for and properly sterilized afterward.
- Support post-operative procedures by assisting with patient transfer, wound care, and documentation of surgical activities.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to facilitate smooth surgical workflows.
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety protocols, and legal regulations to uphold the highest standards of patient care.
Requirements
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist from an accredited program (CST credential preferred).
- Proven experience working in operating rooms or surgical settings.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instruments, and medical terminology.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads as required during procedures.
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
