Position Summary:
The Music Instructor will provide direct instruction and oversight in a classroom-based setting that focuses on music, communication, and readiness for individuals with various abilities. The Music Instructor will also provide individual music lessons providing the structure relating to the goals outlined by the participants. Collaborating with the Music Coordinator with creating the curriculum for related classes while also incorporating music and movement in all programming will be an integral responsibility of the Music Instructor. They must ensure a high level of support and customer service to participants and families.
Responsibilities:
- Connect with participants and/or family members to create individualized goals for music lessons.
- Track participants’ progress and communicate accordingly with families.
- Complete written progress updates for each participant each term.
- Directly provide and facilitate instruction for participants of varying abilities.
- Communicates with participants and families on scheduling and other matters as needed.
- Assist with the management of volunteers, interns, community partners, instructors and support staff.
- Ensure safety of program participants.
- Contribute to AutismUp events and functions as needed.
- Attends trainings and professional development programs.
- Co-manages reporting as needed and assigned, including notes, metrics, incident reports and notables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; completion of a music degree program preferred
- Experience working with individuals with ASD or other disabilities
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays is required
- Teaching experience is preferred
- Experience with piano, guitar, ukelele, and vocal skills
- Reliable transportation to site locations in Greater Rochester area is required

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
