Job Title: Test, Adjust, and Balance (TAB) National Technician

Pay: $22.00 - $35.00 per hour

The role of the TAB National Technician is to perform Test, Adjust, & Balance (TAB) on commercial HVAC systems and gather detailed data on applicable HVAC units and devices. Using specialized testing equipment and procedures, technicians test and tune heating and cooling systems to efficiently deliver the correct airflow, temperature, and humidity throughout the building. By adjusting HVAC systems, technicians help achieve occupant comfort while maximizing energy efficiency.
The position includes both TAB and survey responsibilities in commercial, restaurant, retail, and construction environments. On-the-job and online training are provided. Technicians are provided with uniforms, testing equipment, and standard benefits including insurance and 401(k).
IMPORTANT
National travel is required. Typical assignments may involve 2–3 weeks on the road followed by 1 week off, depending on project requirements. Travel may include flights or long-distance driving. A company vehicle may be provided. Lodging and per diem expenses are covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Test mechanical systems utilizing specialized testing equipment.
- Gather and document detailed HVAC equipment and system survey data.
- Maintain punctuality for job site arrivals as directed.
- Effectively communicate with Controls, Plumbing, Electrical, Mechanical, and other trades.
- Maintain proper job site etiquette and follow OSHA safety guidelines.
- Review job specifications, scope of work, submittals, blueprints, and safety requirements.
- Meet project-specific deadlines.
- Maintain company-provided tools, vehicles, and test instruments.
- Ensure accurate reporting of test data and collected survey information.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail during surveys and testing activities.
- Maintain professionalism in active restaurant, retail, and construction environments.
- Complete all training requirements necessary to become a NEBB Certified Technician.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Excellent driving record.
- Able to pass a background check and drug screen.
- Strong desire to learn a new career.
- Ability to travel nationwide and locally.
- Good mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic, accountability, and integrity.
- Excellent time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
- Works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Must obtain OSHA 10 Construction Safety & Health certification prior to employment.
- Electrical, HVAC, or Refrigeration experience preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Average lift capability of approximately 20 lbs.; maximum unassisted lift of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work from heights and off ladders up to 40 feet.
- Comfortable walking on or near construction sites throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in active restaurants and occupied retail spaces.
- Full operational use of both hands and feet, full vision, and hearing.
- Ability to wear required PPE throughout the workday.
- Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle.
