Known as the "Timber Capital of the World," the city has grown into a hub for outdoor recreation and agritourism, with more than 30 nearby wineries, the North Umpqua River, and the Umpqua National Forest offering hiking, fishing, and waterfalls like Watson and Toketee Falls. Public Schools serves the community across 13 schools, and Umpqua Community College, set on 100 acres along the North Umpqua River, provides local higher-education and workforce training options. Cost of living runs about 10% below the national average, with housing notably more affordable than western Oregon's larger metros, making Roseburg an accessible place to settle down.
