Industrial Millwright: Open to travel and all shifts
BOE: $30 - $35/hr
Job Summary
LaborWorx is seeking an experienced Millwright to install, dismantle, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and relocate industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in manufacturing facilities, processing plants, power plants, and heavy industrial environments. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with precision machinery installation, rotating equipment, rigging, alignments, and mechanical maintenance, and is committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while following all safety regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, align, and commission industrial machinery and production equipment.
- Dismantle, relocate, and reinstall machinery during plant expansions, shutdowns, and equipment upgrades.
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on industrial equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical failures to minimize production downtime.
- Install, maintain, and rebuild pumps, conveyors, compressors, gearboxes, fans, blowers, mixers, agitators, and other rotating equipment.
- Perform precision shaft alignments using laser alignment systems and dial indicators.
- Replace bearings, seals, couplings, shafts, bushings, belts, chains, sprockets, and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and P&IDs.
- Use precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, dial indicators, and laser measuring equipment.
- Perform equipment leveling, balancing, and precision measurements to ensure proper operation.
- Safely rig, lift, and move heavy machinery using cranes, forklifts, chain falls, hoists, slings, and other rigging equipment.
- Assist with equipment startup, testing, commissioning, and operational verification.
- Work closely with electricians, welders, pipefitters, engineers, and plant personnel to complete projects safely and efficiently.
- Complete maintenance reports, work orders, and inspection documentation accurately.
- Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, fall protection, and all company safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Millwright experience in industrial construction, maintenance, or manufacturing environments.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, equipment drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
- Experience performing machinery installation, equipment rebuilds, and precision alignments.
- Knowledge of bearings, pumps, conveyors, compressors, gearboxes, and mechanical drive systems.
- Experience with rigging practices and safe equipment handling.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical failures and perform effective repairs.
- Strong mathematical, mechanical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- NCCER Millwright certification or Journeyman Millwright status.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Rigging and Signal Person certification.
- Forklift, boom lift, scissor lift, or telehandler certification.
- Welding and fabrication experience (MIG, TIG, Stick).
- Experience with laser alignment and vibration analysis.
- Experience working plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and outage projects.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and extended shifts during outages and shutdowns.
- Must be able to wear all required PPE, including steel-toe boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and fall protection.
