Westshore Montessori School is seeking a warm, dependable, and child-centered Montessori Assistant Guide to support our classroom community. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young children, values a calm and respectful environment, and thrives in a collaborative team setting. The successful candidate will be interested in supporting authentic Montessori practice while contributing to a positive, supportive, and professional school community.
The Montessori Assistant Guide works closely with the Lead Guide to support the classroom, assist with supervision and care, help maintain the prepared environment, and encourage each child’s independence, concentration, and social development.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Guide in maintaining a peaceful, organized, and nurturing Montessori classroom.
- Assist children with daily routines, transitions, toileting, handwashing, snacks, outdoor play, and classroom activities.
- Help preserve the prepared environment by cleaning, organizing, and resetting materials throughout the day.
- Model respectful, calm, and developmentally appropriate communication with children.
- Support children’s independence, grace and courtesy, concentration, and positive peer interactions.
- Supervise children indoors and outdoors while maintaining safety, awareness, and appropriate ratios.
- Follow the guidance of the Lead Guide and school leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, staff, and school matters.
- Follow current ODJFS/DCY licensing rules, health and safety procedures, and school expectations.
- Assist with or attend occasional evening and weekend school events.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and professional team.
Qualifications
- Montessori Early Childhood Credential, ages 3–6, preferred; candidates with meaningful classroom experience and a strong interest in Montessori education are encouraged to apply.
- Possess or be willing to obtain required safety certifications, including Child Abuse Recognition and Prevention, CPR, First Aid, and Communicable Disease.
- FBI/BCI background checks and submit a completed medical statement in accordance with licensing requirements.
- Ability to work collaboratively and follow classroom routines and expectations.
- Strong communication skills and a respectful approach with children, families, and staff.

Schedule
Monday through Friday
Full-time and/or part-time opportunities available
Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required to assist with or attend school events.
Compensation
$20 to $25 per hour, based on experience and education.
