Job Duties
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an integral part of the Behavioral Health treatment team. The Psych NP works with a multi-disciplinary team to provide holistic, comprehensive, integrated health care services, in alliance with the organizations’ mission and established clinical protocols. The Psych NP will evaluate and diagnose patients, perform appropriate history and physical examinations, complete mental status examinations, prescribe medications and provide medication management, treat mental health conditions, develop and implement patient treatment/care plans, educate patients on health promotion, treatment options, and management of chronic conditions and prevention. The Psych NP must accurately document all patient encounters and maintain compliance with all applicable law of patient records.
Skills Needed
The Psych NP must be competent and knowledgeable in psychopharmacology. The Psych NP must have the ability to work efficiently and effectively with the multidisciplinary treatment team (Physicians, Mid-level Providers, Licensed Mental Health Providers, Pharmacists, Nurses, and other clinical staff). Must be knowledgeable in the evaluation of patients for psychiatric symptoms and make appropriate treatment plans including ordering & managing medications and facilitating clinical interventions as needed. Preferably 3 years' experience.
Education Requirements
Valid Nurse Practitioner in State of LA.
Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
Certification as NP in specialty area of Psychiatry.
