In-Home Support & Companionship - Fairfield, CT
Position Overview
A Place At Home – Fairfield South is seeking a compassionate and dependable caregiver to support clients throughout Fairfield, CT.
In this role, caregivers help create a safe, comfortable, and supportive environment while respecting each client’s individual needs and preferences. The position focuses on companionship, personal support, and assistance during recovery, helping clients maintain independence and follow their personalized care plans.
Essential Functions
- Monitor and report any changes in the client’s physical or mental condition to the supervisor in a timely manner
- Provide medication reminders according to the care plan (non-medical)
- Prepare light meals and snacks based on dietary needs and assist with feeding if needed
- Perform light housekeeping (laundry, tidying, organizing) to maintain a clean and safe home
- Offer companionship, emotional support, and meaningful conversation
- Accompany clients to appointments, errands, or social outings
- Document care provided and communicate updates with the care team
- Maintain client dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
Skills & Qualifications
- Compassionate and empathetic approach when supporting clients and families
- Ability to assist with personal care while preserving dignity and respect
- Strong communication skills with clients, families, and team members
- Calm and emotionally resilient in sensitive situations
- Basic knowledge of safe mobility and transfer techniques (preferred)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred)
Education & Experience
- CNA, HHA, or equivalent caregiving experience preferred
- CPR, First Aid certification, and TB test (or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening (including random checks if applicable)
- Physically able to assist with mobility, including lifting when needed
