Position Title: Middle School Science and Social Studies Teacher
Position Summary:
St. Peter School in Upper Sandusky is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable educator to teach Middle School Science and Social Studies as two separate instructional blocks. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students develop critical thinking, inquiry, problem-solving, and content mastery while fostering a positive and engaging classroom environment. This position requires strong subject knowledge, effective classroom management, and a commitment to academic excellence and student growth.
Science Responsibilities:
· Teach middle school Science using engaging, standards-based instruction.
· Plan and deliver lessons that promote scientific inquiry, experimentation, observation, analysis, and problem-solving.
· Help students develop an understanding of life science, physical science, earth science, and scientific concepts appropriate to grade level.
· Incorporate hands-on activities, labs, demonstrations, and real-world applications to deepen student understanding.
· Assess student progress through formal and informal measures and use results to guide instruction.
· Provide meaningful feedback to support student growth and skill development.
· Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, respectful, organized, and conducive to learning.
· Communicate regularly with students, parents, colleagues, and administration regarding student progress and needs.
Social Studies Responsibilities:
· Teach a separate Social Studies block focused on history, geography, government, civics, economics, and related content.
· Help students develop research, reading, writing, discussion, and analytical skills through social studies instruction.
· Encourage students to think critically about historical events, civic responsibilities, and the connection between the past and the present.
· Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and meet the needs of diverse learners.
· Assess student progress through formal and informal measures and use results to guide instruction.
· Support students in developing an understanding of citizenship, responsibility, and respect for diverse perspectives.
· Collaborate with colleagues and administration to support student learning and growth.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in education, science, social studies, or a related field.
· Valid Ohio teaching license or ability to obtain appropriate licensure.
· Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
· Strong knowledge of science and social studies instruction.
· Effective classroom management, organization, and communication skills.
· Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience teaching both Science and Social Studies at the middle school level.
· Familiarity with standards-based instruction, differentiation, and intervention strategies.
· Ability to build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
· Experience working in a Catholic school or faith-based educational setting.

Pay: From $30,000.00 per year
