Job Overview
I am seeking a motivated and enthusiastic partner to join my niche business. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly and work unsupervised once they understand concepts. This position offers an apprenticeship that will extend to a part-time (potentially full-time) job.
This relationship starts with a class, which is not free. This is to pay for my time and labor teaching you and show that you are dedicated to completing the apprenticeship. You will quickly make this money back through clients.
I am not interested in current hair stylists, cosmetologists, or barbers. I prefer someone who simply does customer service well and is looking for a flexible side gig. You do not need a cosmetology or barber's license to do dreadlocks, so it is not required for this apprenticeship.
Apprenticeship Includes
- Basic principles of working with straight, curly, and kinky hair
- Hair sectioning
- Root maintenance, repairs, extensions, instant locs, extensions, dreadlock removal
- How to make extensions
- Principles for running a mobile hair business
- Personal portfolio and inclusion on Dread King website
You will need to pay for the apprenticeship, but you will make back your money within your first few clients. Basic tools needed for the position will be provided.
Job Duties
- Consult with clients to ensure they understand our services and fit our customer audience.
- Drive to clients within your specified range to provide mobile services.
- Provide dreadlock services for clients, including root maintenance, repairs, instant locs, extensions, dreadlock removal, etc.
- Take photos and videos of work to grow the joint business portfolio.
- Utilize Airtable to manage client records and schedule appointments.
- Accurately manage finances- Dread King apprentice earns 60% commission pay to start and moves up to 70% after one year.
Requirements
- Must be located in San Antonio for the foreseeable future.
- Passion for dreadlocks - you do not need to have them on your head, but previously having them at some point (or being willing to have them installed) is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members.
- Well-maintained vehicle and current license.
- Basic hand dexterity.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.

Other important information:
- I will be doing interviews throughout September and October, choosing an apprentice in October, and the apprenticeship starts in mid-November.
