Instructional Assistant

Position Summary
Next Generation Learning Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and dependable Instructional Assistant to support Lead Teachers in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. The Instructional Assistant will help implement daily classroom activities, encourage children’s development, and ensure the health and safety of all children in their care.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities.
- Supervise children during classroom instruction, outdoor play, meals, naps, and transitions.
- Encourage children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through positive interactions.
- Help prepare classroom materials, learning centers, and educational activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment.
- Support children’s personal care needs, including diapering, toileting, handwashing, and feeding, as appropriate.
- Observe and report children’s progress, behaviors, and concerns to the Lead Teacher.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and fellow staff members.
- Follow all state licensing regulations and center policies regarding health, safety, and supervision.
- Attend staff meetings, required training, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Lead Teacher.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with young children is preferred.
- CDA credential or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers.
- Strong teamwork, organization, and time-management skills.
- Must pass all required state background checks.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively participate in classroom activities.
