Position: Vice President of Sport
Supervises: Sport-Specific Executive Directors

Position Description:
The Vice President of Sport is tasked with enhancing the impact and influence of SportsLife within sports communities by seeking the Lord and building a strong team of staff. The VP is expected to exemplify the core values of SportsLife: Love Deeply, Live Abundantly, and Lead Courageously.
This role involves recruiting, hiring, training, and mobilizing staff to effectively engage sport communities. The VP will ensure the success of training, resources, and programs by developing staff, collaborating with the advisory board, and working alongside financial partners and volunteers. Additionally, the VP is responsible for securing the necessary financial resources to maintain stability and must ensure that SportsLife operates in accordance with biblical standards while adhering to the organization’s policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years of experience in fundraising, hiring staff, and leading discipleship ministry.
Vision: To build sports communities for Kingdom Impact.
Mission: To infuse life into sports leaders around the world.
Strategy: To serve sports leaders with world-class, Christ-centered training, resources, and events.
SportsLife Leader: A Christ-centered, discipleship-driven coach, athlete, or person of influence in sports who uses their position and platform to model Christ-like character, mentor others in Christ, and multiply Kingdom Impact.
Life Groups: Sport by sport bible studies led by SL Leaders.
Responsibilities:
1. Cultivate a Growing Relationship with God for Personal Spiritual Growth.
- Maintain a vibrant relationship with Christ through prayer, worship, study, and accountability.

Stay actively engaged in a local church and seek a strong biblical community.

Commit to personal and professional development by reading and enrolling in courses for continuous learning.

Stay informed by analyzing trends in ministry, business, economic factors, sports, global shifts, and cultural influences that may impact SportsLife.
2. Promote and Protect the SportsLife Team Culture.
- Live and reflect the core values: “Love deeply, live abundantly, and lead courageously.”

Exemplify, embody, and cultivate a Christ-centered, positive, optimistic, and resilient culture of integrity, humility, growth, grit, and transformation among SportsLife staff, leaders, and volunteers.
3. Create, Execute, and Communicate the Strategic Plan for each Sport Community.
- Help develop the strategic plan, establish goals, and define metrics with Executive Directors.

Gather input from staff and the advisory board during the planning process.

Oversee the execution of the strategic plan for each sport community.

Ensure alignment of the plan with SportsLife’s vision, mission, and core values.

Assess the effectiveness of the plan regularly.

Effectively communicate the plan to all stakeholders.

Design and implement a financial development plan to secure the resources needed to achieve the strategic objectives.
4. Recruit, Train, Hire, and Mobilize Staff.
- Serve, care for, support, and minister to the staff.

Identify, recruit, hire, and train a core team to enhance the impact of SportsLife ministry.

Make hiring and termination decisions after thorough evaluation and planning, adhering to SportsLife policies and procedures.

Onboard new staff with a comprehensive orientation and training program.

Foster staff growth and development by providing necessary resources and tools.

Facilitate yearly performance evaluations to analyze staff effectiveness, pinpointing strengths and opportunities for development.

Organize productive staff meetings, gatherings, and team-building activities to strengthen team cohesion.

Cast and carry the SportsLife vision to the staff.

Implement the mission daily with clear goals and objectives.

Ensure that the values of are reflected in all relationships.
5. Create and Execute a Comprehensive Funding Plan.
- Assemble a personal Support Team to achieve full funding.

Design and implement strategies to generate consistent, recurring revenue.

Establish a financial foundation to support the execution of the strategic plan.

Develop and launch a major donor program.

Create and implement a year-end fundraising strategy.
-
Express appreciation to donors through calls, personal notes, and visits.

Plan, coordinate, and host key fundraising events.
6. Ensure the Training, Resources and Events (TRE) are being Developed and Deployed.
- Work collaborative with Chief Leadership Officer and team to develop and deploy training, resources, and events to reach each sport community.
Training (Heart):
- Develop trainings that are interactive educational programs with the primary goal of spiritual growth and practical application to be delivered as keynotes and workshops, in groups, and at events.

Help develop training assets for each sport community – videos, slide decks, workbooks, and courses – that are offered in-person and online in our SportsLife App.

Offer SportsLife Leader Certification programs where we “train the trainer” so leaders are capable of facilitating the trainings themselves.
- Trainings will include: 3D Coaching, certifications, leadership development, leadership discipleship, leadership coaching, LifeGroups, and spiritual formation.
Resources (Hands):
- Develop resources that are in-hand and online materials designed to help sports leaders grow spiritually and lead others effectively (both physically and digitally).

Ensure every resource is written from a competitive mindset and built for leadership and discipleship —speaking directly to the language, culture, and environment of each sport community.

Resources include: YouVersion Bible Plans, devotionals, podcasts, spiritual formation books, Sport-Specific New Testament, and study videos.
Events (Feet):
- Create and lead events that are in-person gatherings and virtual experiences designed to inspire spiritual growth, strengthen leadership, and activate community

Ensure each event is built to deliver practical leadership development, spiritual formation, and transformational experiences that move individuals and teams toward greater unity, purpose, and performance.

Events include: camps, challenges, clinics, competitions, conferences, masterminds, outreaches, retreats, and tournaments.
7. Establish and Lead an Advisory Board for each Sport Community.
- Train board members on their responsibilities to effectively utilize their Wisdom, Work, Witness, and Wealth.

Collaborate with the chairman to schedule and facilitate Advisory Board meetings.

Leverage the skills, resources, and talents of board members.

Assess the effectiveness of the Advisory Board regularly.

Encourage board members to serve as ambassadors for the ministry.

Work with the Board to develop and approve the operating budget.

Involve the Board in creating and implementing the strategic plan.

Conduct fundraising activities by securing financial contributions for the ministry and identifying others who can support.
8. Adhere to All SportsLife Guidelines and Policies.
- Develop an annual budget and manage all financial operations.

Assess and oversee all financial activities, including establishing the fiscal year budget and reviewing monthly financial reports with staff.

Seek support, guidance, and necessary resources from the supervisor.
9. Enhance Representation Within SportsLife to Reflect the Body of Christ.
- Build a team with varied backgrounds, cultures, and experiences among staff, the Advisory Board, and other ministry areas.
Expectations:
1. Spiritual Leadership: Provide spiritual discipleship, guidance, and mentorship to sport leaders, helping them grow in their faith and relationship with God.
2. Program and Resource Development: Design and implement sports programs and resources that instill spiritual growth for leaders.
3. Community Engagement: Foster relationships with local sports federations, organizations, schools, and churches to create partnerships that enhance outreach and ministry opportunities.
4. Volunteer Mobilization: Recruit, train, and lead volunteers who engage in various programs and events, ensuring they are well-equipped to support the ministry’s mission.
5. Discipleship: Create opportunities for discipleship, Bible studies, and small groups that integrate sports and spirituality, encouraging leaders to deepen their faith.
6. Event Planning: Organize and oversee trainings, events, and programs that promote both athletic skills and spiritual development.
7. Communication: Effectively communicate the ministry’s vision, mission, and values through newsletters, social media, and community events to engage and inform stakeholders.
8. Fundraising: Be fully funded and develop fundraising strategies to support the ministry’s growth and initiatives.
9. Mentorship and Coaching: Act as a mentor, helping staff and volunteers to develop not only their sports skills but also their Christ-like character and integrity.
10. Evaluation and Reporting: Regularly assess the effectiveness of programs and initiatives, collecting feedback from participants and stakeholders to continuously improve the ministry’s impact.
11. Global Vision: Embody a global vision for your sports community that involves leaders around the world. Must have a heart for the nations.
12. Spiritual Calling: Responding to God’s call to serve in full-time ministry.
