About the Position
Holy Trinity Lutheran Academy is seeking a caring, responsible, and experienced Chinese Teacher to join our after-school program.
We are looking for an educator who is passionate about working with children and is able to teach Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) in an engaging, structured, and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach Traditional Chinese (繁體中文) reading, writing, vocabulary, and communication skills
- Develop engaging, age-appropriate lessons and learning activities
- Strengthen students' Chinese reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills
- Adapt instruction to students of different ages and proficiency levels
- Maintain a positive, organized, and well-managed classroom
- Monitor student learning and progress
- Communicate professionally and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, needs, and classroom expectations
- Work collaboratively with Academy teachers, staff, and administration
- Encourage students to develop confidence and interest in learning Chinese
- Follow all Academy policies, procedures, and student safety expectations
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Chinese and English
- Must be proficient in reading, writing, and teaching Traditional Chinese (繁體中文)
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience
- Experience working with elementary and/or middle school students
- Strong classroom management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with parents/guardians, students, and Academy staff
- Patient, caring, responsible, dependable, and organized
- Ability to work with students of different ages, backgrounds, and learning levels
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a teaching team
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Must meet Academy requirements regarding background checks and student safety (Livescan, reference check, CPR and First Aid)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or coursework in Education, Chinese, Language Education, Child Development, or a related field
- Previous experience teaching Chinese in a school, after-school program, tutoring center, or language school
- Experience developing Chinese language lessons or curriculum
- Experience communicating with parents regarding student learning and progress
Schedule
Part-Time / After-School
Specific teaching days and hours will be discussed based on the Academy's program needs and the applicant's availability.
