Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and provide information.
- Coordinate patient scheduling using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring optimal appointment flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
- Review and update patient records accurately within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA confidentiality policies.
- Assist with medical billing and collections by processing payments, submitting claims, and following up on outstanding balances utilizing medical coding knowledge including CPT, ICD-10, ICD-9 codes.
- Manage documentation review, filing of medical records, and ensure compliance with clinical confidentiality policies.
- Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks such as data entry, typing reports, managing electronic health records (EHR), and maintaining organized filing systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical or dental office setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and health insurance procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively via phone and in person; bilingual abilities are highly desirable.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with office management software.
- Knowledge of health insurance verification processes, medical billing procedures, and clinical confidentiality policies aligned with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while demonstrating attention to detail in documentation review and data entry.
- Previous clinic or hospital experience preferred; dental clinic experience is highly valued.
- Typing speed of at least 10 key strokes per second with accurate data entry skills; familiarity with multi-line phone systems is advantageous.
