The Parts Counter Representative assists customers and technicians in identifying, locating, and purchasing automotive parts. They maintain inventory accuracy, process orders efficiently, and provide knowledgeable, friendly service to support both retail and service department needs.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assist all walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
- Pull purchased part from stock. If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit an emergency order (if requested by customer or tech).
- Answer calls, provide price quotes and other information.
- Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery or pick-up.
- Verify WILL CALL and BACKORDER files weekly and return to vendors, or stock those items not required.
- Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
- Notify the service desk and the customer that ordered parts have been received.
- Ensure that parts can be charged out, when the technician presents a repair order.
- Keep parts catalog and price books current.
- Keep all bins, isles and parts area clean, neat and clearly labeled.
- Be friendly, professional and efficient when working with customers, co-workers and other dealership departments.
- Issue credit slips for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice or its number, is available so that purchase and pricing can be verified. Exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager.
- Keep current on new products and updates.
- Participate in all training programs that are made available.
- Reliable attendance required.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and be authorized to work in the U.S. Applicants are also required to have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Other requirements include completing and passing both a background and drug test as a condition of employment.
