American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring a valid MO or compact RN license and a minimum of 2 years of ED experience, with night shift availability and every-other-weekend coverage.

Night shift schedule: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM (3x12-hour shifts), with potential for 2:45 PM – 3:15 AM shifts as needed

Emergency Department with 26 beds and an average daily census of 97

Patient population is adults and geriatrics, with approximately 40% of patients over age 60
-
High admission rate with approximately 40% of patients being admitted
-
Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1:4 each shift, including weekends
-
Every-other-weekend coverage required
-
ESI acuity mix: approximately 23% Level 1 & 2, with Level 4s at 6% and Level 5s rarely seen
-
Designated Primary Stroke Center (TPA administration) and a top-tier heart hospital with Level 1 STEMI capability
-
Cares for Level 3 trauma patients (no formal trauma certification)
-
Specialized procedures include moderate/conscious sedation, chest tubes, intubations, central lines, and defibrillation/pacing

Epic EMR experience required

Valid MO state RN license required (compact license also accepted); must be in hand at time of consideration

Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, STEMI, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)

Conscious sedation experience required

Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required

Preferred certifications: TNCC, CPI, ENPC, SANE

Triage and ventilator experience preferred

Community hospital experience preferred

Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not eligible

First-time travelers are not accepted for this position

Navy blue or grey scrubs required

Former permanent employees of any BJC facility must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler

Travelers may remain on assignment for a maximum of 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
-
RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation

13-week contract minimum; longer contract extensions may be available
