Boat Captain – Finish the Season With Us & Get a Head Start on 2027

Freedom Boat Club, the nation’s leading private member boat club, is looking for passionate and experienced captains to join us for the remainder of the 2026 boating season — with the potential to return for the 2027 season!
This is a great opportunity to get your feet wet with our team, learn our operations, connect with our members, and finish out the season on the water. Captains who are a great fit may also be considered for opportunities when we gear back up for the 2027 boating season.
As a Seasonal Training Captain in the Jersey City area, you’ll use your boating experience to help members build the skills and confidence they need to safely enjoy everything boating has to offer.

Make a Difference on the Water
As a Seasonal Training Captain, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the boating experiences of our members.
- Deliver comprehensive training: Bring our established, industry-leading training program to life. From basic boating safety to more advanced maneuvers, you'll help prepare members with the skills they need to safely enjoy their time on the water.
- Build confidence and competence: Work with members of varying experience levels and help them become safe, confident boaters.
- Create a great member experience: Make training informative, approachable, and enjoyable while building rapport with new and existing members.
- Be part of the team: Collaborate with fellow Captains and club staff to support smooth daily operations and an exceptional member experience.

Enjoy $60 per 3-hour session, plus Captains will also usually earn an additional $50 commission for the sale of our Peace of Mind plan and score major discounts on their own Freedom Boat Club membership.

Qualifications to Set Sail
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License required
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the role
- Strong knowledge of boating safety and operating principles
- Ability to effectively train and educate individuals with varying levels of boating experience
- Clear communication skills and the ability to build rapport and create a positive learning environment
- Ability to maintain composure and navigate stressful situations calmly
- Professional appearance and commitment to high standards
- Initiative and strong attention to detail
