Position Overview:
Fort Myers Marine is seeking a skilled and motivated Marine / Outboard Service Technician to join our growing team. As a key contributor to our service department, you will play a critical role in delivering exceptional customer satisfaction by maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing boats and outboard motors with precision and efficiency.
As a full-line Yamaha dealer, this position offers factory training and certification, excellent compensation and benefits, and the opportunity to expand into additional areas within the company.

Key Responsibilities: Diagnosis, Maintenance & Repair
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on boats and outboard engines
- Test, inspect, and investigate failures on both customer and dealer units
- Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, lower unit service, and full system inspections
- Complete repairs in a manner that minimizes repeat visits and maximizes customer satisfaction
- Prepare new boats and motors for delivery
- Install, rig, and replace OEM and aftermarket parts, electronics, and accessories
- Conduct safety inspections and recommend necessary services
- Perform on-water testing and sea trials as needed
- Identify opportunities to generate additional service revenue while maintaining integrity and trust
General Duties & Administration
- Accurately report labor hours to the Service Manager
- Compile and submit parts requests to the Parts Department
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Complete service work orders accurately and on time
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and team members
- Actively pursue ongoing training and manufacturer certificationsQualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Marine Technician or similar mechanical role
- Strong knowledge of outboard engines (Yamaha experience preferred)
- Solid understanding of marine electrical systems and diagnostics
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and specifications
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Detail-oriented while maintaining high productivity
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Yamaha or other OEM certifications
- Technical school graduate (marine or mechanical program)
- Experience with marine electronics, NMEA systems, GPS, and sonar
- Fiberglass repair and rigging experience
- Forklift or trailer handling experience
Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed indoors, with some outdoor work required
- Shop environment involving kneeling, bending, climbing, twisting, and lifting
