Works with and directs other custodial service employees

Teaches new custodians district approved cleaning standards and techniques

Directs and participates in deep cleaning during breaks

Gives directions to Lead Custodian regarding tasks to be accomplished

Makes minor equipment/building repairs

Is able to proficiently use School Dude for the electronic delivery of work orders and to access facilities management
-
Maintains appropriate inventory of custodial supplies, orders as needed, and is fiscally responsible for custodial supply building budget
-
Responsible for recording and posting overtime for all facility events
-
Responsible for maintaining and updating Building Information Binder
-
Collaborates and communicates with administrators about infrastructure concerns/issues and responds in a timely manner
-
Provides coaching as needed to other custodial staff
-
Works cooperatively with building staff to ensure set-ups for activities or events are properly scheduled
-
Reports absences, infraction of work rules, and inadequate work completion to Supervisor of Custodial staff
-
Participates in evaluation of employees by ensuring a fair and equitable assessment of performance
-
Reports payroll electronically

Ensures the proper completion of preventative maintenance procedures by directing the work of other custodial staff to complete these tasks or performing them independently

Has assigned specific cleaning tasks which may include cleaning restrooms, stairwells, hallways, entries etc.

Responsible for snow removal from walks, steps, and entries

Assists in loading and unloading school supplies and equipment
-
Maintains HVAC system as directed by Supervisor of Maintenance

Ensures the security procedures regarding locking of doors and windows are followed by those supervised

Primary contact person with security issues related to building infrastructure after hours
-
Establishes and sets expectations for grounds keeping schedule of all custodial staff including mowing, trimming of weeds, and care of small bushes/trees
-
Establishes routines and gives directions to ensure the maximum energy conservation in the operation of the building
-
Establishes and sets routines to ensure that grounds are trash-free at all time
-
Annually inspect playgrounds
-
Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV Yes No)
-
Have the physical ability to lift and carry 56 lbs.

Have the physical ability to climb an eight-foot ladder and perform custodial tasks
-
Ability to climb steps and work on uneven ground
-
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions
Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)

Must have high degree or GED
-
Computer experience in use of Outlook, Word, Google, Excel, and School Dude
-
Must have passed or is willing to take the Head/Lead/HVAC Class and demonstrate proficiency by passing required exam following completion of course
-
Requires 2 years of custodial experience with six (6) months proven supervisory experience
