Azierta LLC is a premier technical consultancy firm specializing in civil infrastructure, transportation systems, and federal/state procurement support contracts. As we expand our strategic operations and contract submittals in the Maryland region, we are actively seeking an elite, senior-level Stormwater Compliance Lead to join our consulting network as an independent subcontractor (1099 consultant).
This role operates on a completely remote, contract-by-project basis, making it an excellent opportunity to complement your active workload with high-value infrastructure initiatives while maintaining maximum schedule flexibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Permittee Compliance & Strategy: Lead, audit, and support Phase I or Phase II permittee compliance programs, ensuring strict alignment with NPDES, MS4, and 20-SW General Permits.
- Environmental Goals Management: Evaluate, design, and manage monitoring and reporting metrics designed to successfully meet Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) goals.
- Regulatory Agency Coordination: Act as the technical point of contact and lead regulatory compliance coordination and programmatic negotiations with local and state environmental agencies.
- Strategic QA/QC Document Review: Perform comprehensive peer reviews of environmental planning sheets, water quality reports, and compliance logs to eliminate regulatory risk.
Job Requirements & Qualifications:
- Professional Track (Mandatory): Must be established as an Environmental Compliance Specialist, Environmental Engineer, or Environmental Scientist.
- Educational Background: Must hold a 4-year college degree (B.S.) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Biology, Natural Resources, or a closely related environmental field.
- Experience Benchmark: Minimum of ten (10) years of active, hands-on experience supporting Phase I or II permittee compliance specifically under NPDES MS4 frameworks, 20-SW General Permits, and TMDL requirements.
- Regulatory Mastery: Demonstrated working knowledge of governing federal and state water quality regulations, environmental laws, and past coordination with regulatory boards.
Compensation & Contract Framework:
- Project-Based Hourly Rate: This position operates on an independent subcontractor (1099) framework. Compensation is paid on a pay-per-hour basis according to project tasks and deliverables. We do not offer a fixed annual salary.
- Flexible Rate Structure: There is no pre-established minimum or maximum rate. The hourly rate is dynamic and will be negotiated directly per project assignment based on task complexity, project budgets, and individual candidate credentials.
Work Location: Fully Remote (Candidates must have deep familiarity with U.S. regulatory water quality frameworks).
