Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) for an 8-week contract opportunity in Harlingen, Texas. This role is ideal for an OR Circulator with strong perioperative experience who thrives in a fast-paced surgical environment. Candidates must be comfortable participating in the on-call rotation and providing exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the OR Circulating Nurse during a variety of surgical procedures.
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
- Perform comprehensive preoperative patient assessments and verify surgical readiness.
- Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to infection prevention protocols.
- Monitor patients throughout surgical procedures and accurately document all perioperative care.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the perioperative team.
- Participate in the on-call schedule and respond to emergency surgical cases as needed.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room (OR Circulator) experience required.
- PACU or Recovery Room experience alone does not qualify.
- Current BLS (AHA) certification.
- Current ACLS (AHA) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Current PALS (AHA) certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- CNOR Certification (AORN) preferred.
- BSN preferred.
- Strong perioperative nursing, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Candidates residing beyond 50 miles from the assignment location are encouraged to apply.
