Essential Strength isn’t just a gym; it’s Pittsburgh’s standard for elite physical preparation and sustainable health. We don’t do "fluff" workouts or "flavor of the week" fitness. We focus on the fundamentals: strength, movement quality, and measurable progress. Our community is built on hard work, science-based programming, and a commitment to being better today than we were yesterday.
We are the best in the city because we hire the best. We are currently looking for an A-Player to join our coaching staff—someone who lives the lifestyle and has the technical mastery to back it up.
WHO YOU ARE (The A-Player)
- You are a Technician: You don’t just "watch" people move; you analyze. You have an eagle eye for squat depth, hinge mechanics, and scapular stability.
- You are a Lifelong Student: You stay on top of the latest strength and conditioning research. You don’t think you know it all; you know that the best coaches never stop learning.
- You are a Leader: You command the floor. You have the "Coach’s Voice"—authoritative yet encouraging—and you can manage a group of diverse athletes with ease.
- You are Reliable: You show up early, stay late if the job isn’t done, and represent the Essential Strength brand 24/7.
- You Hate Mediocrity: If you’re looking for a "job" where you can just stand around and count reps, do not apply. We want someone who is obsessed with getting our members results.
THE ROLE
- Lead Training Sessions: Deliver high-energy, technically sound coaching for our semi-private and group strength sessions.
- Program Design: Assist in/oversee the development of individualized training blocks that prioritize longevity and performance.
- Athlete Assessment: Conduct comprehensive movement screens and onboarding for new members to ensure they start on the right path.
- Community Engagement: Be a face of the gym. Help organize events, contribute to our educational content, and build deep relationships with our members.
- Facility Ownership: Maintain the highest standards of gym cleanliness and organization. We take pride in our "house."
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of coaching experience in a strength-focused environment (Private sector, Collegiate, or Tactical).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field (Preferred).
- Certification: CSCS (NSCA) or USAW preferred. Other high-level certifications (SFG, Precision Nutrition, etc.) are a plus.
- The "IT" Factor: You must be able to demonstrate every movement we prescribe with excellent form. You must walk the walk.
WHY ESSENTIAL STRENGTH?
- The Best Environment: Work in a facility with top-tier equipment and a client base that actually wants to train hard.
- Growth: We invest in our people. You will have access to mentorship and continuing education opportunities.
- Competitive Pay: We pay for performance. A-Players are compensated accordingly.
- Autonomy: We trust our coaches to lead. If you prove your worth, you’ll have the freedom to grow your own niche within our brand.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
At the end of the day, we are looking for a coach who understands that their impact extends far beyond the whiteboard. We want a teammate who thrives on:
- Owning the Floor: You don't just stand in the room; you command it. From the moment you step in, your energy sets the tone, your eyes are on every detail, and your presence ensures that the standard never drops.
- Delivering Results: We aren't in the business of "tired." We are in the business of "better." You are driven by data, progress, and the tangible transformation of our athletes.
- Keeping This the Best Part of a Client’s Day: Life is heavy; the gym shouldn't just be about heavy weights. We need a coach who can balance elite-level intensity with genuine connection, ensuring every member leaves feeling stronger, more capable, and like they belong to something exceptional.
