Middle and high school students often arrive with a wide range of academic needs. Some need extra time, focused instruction, and small-group support to strengthen foundational skills in ELA and Math so they can access grade-level learning with confidence.
We are seeking a dedicated and student-focused Paraprofessional (Grades 6–12) to provide targeted small-group academic intervention support in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics. The ideal candidate is patient, consistent, and passionate about helping students close learning gaps and experience success.
As a Small Group Academic Support Paraprofessional, you will:
- Provide targeted small-group instruction in ELA and/or Math to support skill development and gap closure
- Reinforce foundational skills such as reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, number sense, and problem-solving
- Support students in mastering grade-level standards through scaffolded instruction
- Work closely with classroom teachers and intervention staff to align support with student learning goals
- Assist in implementing intervention plans and instructional strategies designed to accelerate student growth
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers to support instructional planning
- Support students with diverse learning needs, including students with IEPs and autism, through structured academic interventions
- Help students stay engaged, focused, and motivated during learning sessions
- Build positive, encouraging relationships that promote confidence and persistence
- Maintain a structured, supportive, and positive learning environment during small-group instruction
- Support additional academic programs, tutoring sessions, or school-based interventions as needed
Qualifications
Required
- At least 60 credit hours from an Acceredited Institution or a passing grade on the Para Test (Associate’s degree or higher preferred)
- Strong skills in English Language Arts and/or Mathematics
- Ability to work effectively with middle and high school students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow instructional plans and collaborate with teachers
- Patience, consistency, and a positive, supportive attitude
Preferred
- Experience providing academic intervention or tutoring support
- Experience working in schools or youth academic programs
- Experience supporting students with special education needs
- Familiarity with reading or math intervention strategies
- Strong teamwork and classroom support skills
