Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Technician to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a long-term care or community living setting. The ideal candidate will assist with daily living activities, ensure resident safety, and promote a comfortable and engaging environment. This role requires a person who is attentive, patient, and committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those requiring specialized memory care. Experience in home and community care, assisted living, or nursing home environments is highly valued. The Residential Technician will play a vital role in fostering independence while providing necessary support tailored to each resident's unique needs.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility assistance
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature
- Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and maintain accurate documentation using EMR systems
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's care through memory-enhancing activities and behavioral management techniques
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely and effectively during transfers
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual preferences
- Provide personal care in a respectful and dignified manner, ensuring comfort and safety at all times
- Assist with transportation needs by driving residents to appointments or community activities when required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment within the resident’s living space
- Document care activities thoroughly and communicate effectively with team members regarding resident status and needs
Skills
- Prior experience in long-term care, nursing homes, assisted living, or home & community care settings preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's support strategies, and behavior management techniques
- Ability to assist with ADLs and perform personal care tasks with empathy and professionalism
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation purposes
- Strong communication skills for interacting effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Basic knowledge of vital signs monitoring and medication administration procedures
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges is advantageous
- Valid driver’s license for transportation duties if necessary
- CPR/First aid certification is a plus but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification required
