Under direct supervision, operates various construction equipment and tools to construct, repair, and maintain the Town's water distribution and wastewater collection systems. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES • Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as backhoes, excavators, loaders, trenchers, dump trucks, skid steers, and sewer-cleaning vehicles; uses hand and power tools as needed.
- Cleans, repairs, and maintains utility lines and services, including excavation of trenches and ditches for main and service line installation.
- Conducts daily inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles, tools, and equipment, ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation and safety standards.
- Performs sewer line cleaning, loading and unloading of materials, and other maintenance or construction tasks.
- Works safely in and around high-traffic areas, medians, and rights-of-way.
- Trains employees in equipment operation, maintenance, and safety techniques.
- Identifies potential hazards, liability exposures, and public inquiries, reporting findings to the supervisor.
- Assists with utility maintenance duties and supports other departments as needed.
- Adheres to Town, departmental, and safety policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION Desired Qualifications
- A Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) Class C Water Distribution Operator or Wastewater Collection II license is preferred.
Knowledge/ Skills / Abilities
- Skilled in the safe operation of light to heavy equipment, vehicles, and small power tools.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, make competent decisions, and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong multitasking and time management skills; able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to respond within 30 minutes to on-call or emergency callbacks.
