Duties
- Provide comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Assist physicians and technologists with invasive procedures such as cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placements, and other vascular interventions.
- Monitor vital signs, oxygenation levels, and hemodynamic parameters using advanced EMR/EHR systems like Epic and Cerner to document real-time patient data accurately.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure sterile field integrity.
- Administer medications including sedation, contrast agents, and other IV therapies with precision and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Educate patients about procedures, post-care instructions, and answer questions to promote understanding and reduce anxiety.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including radiology, cardiology, anesthesia, and laboratory staff to optimize patient outcomes across diverse clinical settings such as ICU, emergency room, or outpatient clinics.
Experience
- Proven critical care experience in high-acuity environments such as ICU or emergency medicine is highly preferred.
- Prior experience working with cardiac catheterization labs or interventional radiology units is essential.
- Knowledge of advanced cardiovascular procedures including PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention), ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator) management, and electrophysiology studies.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for accurate documentation of patient care activities.
- Competence in IV infusion therapy, medication administration, suturing techniques, and sterile processing protocols.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or complex medical needs enhances your ability to deliver personalized care in travel nursing assignments.
- Additional skills such as phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, trauma medicine experience (Level I/II Trauma Center), infectious disease care knowledge, and familiarity with ICD coding are advantageous.
