Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration; report any concerns promptly
- Support medication administration following prescribed plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal consumption to promote proper nutrition
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning patient areas and ensuring hygiene standards are met
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to assist with transfers and prevent injury
- Document care activities accurately in care plans and maintain detailed records of patient observations and progress
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages social interaction
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals such as nurses, social workers, or therapists to implement comprehensive care plans
- Participate in training sessions on CPR, first aid, dementia care, Alzheimer's care, hospice care, autism support, and other relevant topics to enhance caregiving skills
Requirements
- Proven experience in caregiving roles within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home health environments
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively
- Familiarity with assisted living standards, dementia/memory care practices, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are preferred
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when needed for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow detailed care plans and document observations accurately
- Experience working with people with disabilities or chronic conditions like Alzheimer's disease is highly desirable
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays as required for patient needs
- Compassionate attitude combined with patience and excellent interpersonal skills
