Description:
The Educational Technician supports the instruction and development of children with identified developmental disabilities under the guidance of a certified teacher. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in preschool settings and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A current Educational Technician certification and successful completion of a criminal history background check are required.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise individual students or small groups in center-based programs under indirect professional supervision.
- Support the implementation of educational programs, contributing to curriculum planning to create an inclusive environment with necessary accommodations for optimal learning.
- Assist in preparing classroom materials and supporting classroom management, as well as individual student needs including but not limited to therapy carryover, toileting, eating, dressing and daily living needs.
- Demonstrate developmentally appropriate, positive language and behavior as a model for children and families.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, advocate for student needs, and provide follow-through on recommendations under the direction of the Early Childhood Special Education Teacher.
- Contribute to the completion and maintenance of individual observational child assessments.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all student and employee information.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Obtain and maintain authorization as an Educational Technician with the Maine Department of Education
- Successful background, criminal records, fingerprinting and reference check
