The equipment operator may operate several types of power construction equipment such as loaders, hydraulic excavators, dozers, tractors, skid steers, scrapers, and motor graders.
- Extensive knowledge of heavy machinery operation and capabilities.
- Excellent mechanical skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Heavy focus on safety and teamwork is mandatory.
- Judge distances and slopes accurately, make decisions based on verifiable standards.
- Must be drug free, as operators are subject to random DOT drug testing.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- On-the-job training offered.
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery with the ability to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
