About the Role:
Job Title: Journeyman Lineman
Division: Transmission
Location: Remote
Field Positions (Includes Field Management): Fully in Field
Pay Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Reports To: Foreman
Supervises: Crews: Apprentices, Operators, Groundman
Minimum Requirements
- Background Check: Required
- Drug Testing: Pre-employment Drug Screening
- Driver’s license and MVR requirement: Class ‘A’ CDL and clean MVR
- Education: High School Diploma or GED or Equivalent
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years’ previous experience
- Qualifications/Certifications: Journeyman Certificate; through the Department of Labor
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified or possess the ability to obtain certification within 90 days of employment
- Technical Skills: intermediate level computer skills
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Essential Skills, Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all duties assigned by supervisor or manager.
- Documentation done timely. Accurate reporting and tracking followed through to completion. Includes reporting incidents, submitting and coding receipts.
- Can read, understand and follow contract documents/drawings. Ensure all work is completed according to contract documents.
- Work alongside, plan, direct, and supervise daily activities of your reports.
- Tooling and Equipment Management, you will assist with ensuring maintenance is up to date, employees trained to operate, kept organized, taken care of, kept clean and in working order, inspections are completed, taken out of service if damaged or broken.
- Maintains open communication with leadership.
- Responsible for quality control on your projects
- Understand and comply with Company Policies and Operating Procedures.

Essential Safety Requirements
- Adheres to and promotes Altitude’s safety culture.
- Must arrive at your designated work area on time (early) and “Fit for Duty”. Physically, mentally, and emotionally ready to work.
- JHA management, to include thoroughly completing, reviewing, correcting deficiencies and modifying if tasks change.
- Ensure safe working conditions and good housekeeping in your work area.
- Identify and mitigate hazards.
- Promotes and participates in Altitude’s ‘Monthly Safety Meetings’.
- Adheres to all applicable Altitude, Local, State and Federal safety standards and safety requirements.
- Wears all required protective and safety equipment while performing tasks that require it.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to climb, bend over, kneel, squat, crawl and reach overhead.
- Required to lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 pounds.
- Able to use two handed tools.
- Able to speak and hear information through oral communication.
- Has visual acuity to see items clearly and sharply.
- Must be able to work in tight or confined spaces.
Other Requirements, Experience and Working Conditions
- Working conditions could include inclement weather, rugged terrain and remote locations.
- Working and climbing at heights up to or exceeding 200 feet.
- Experience climbing and working from steel lattice towers, H-frames, monopoles, and wood transmission structures
- Experience working on energized and de-energized high voltage and (EHV) extra-high-voltage transmission systems
- Experience with conductor stringing, sagging, clipping, and dead-ending transmission lines
- Have knowledge of tension stringing equipment, pullers, tensioners, travelers and dollies
- Experience with rigging and hoisting operations in accordance with approved lift plans
- This job requires you to report to your job site on time as directed.
- Excluding storm projects- work schedules/hours can be up to 12-hour days and up to 60-hours per week.
- Willing to work nights, weekends, out of town, overtime, outages, and storm calls as required.
- Must be willing to travel, work out of town for extended periods of time
- You will be required to work on energized lines up to 345 kV and work near lines up to 500 kV
- Advanced understanding of induced voltage, step and touch potential, and EHV grounding and bonding procedures specific to 345 kV transmission systems
- De-energized- experience performing dead-line transmission work on EHV systems
Preferred Certifications and Experience
- Energized-experience with live-line barehand or rubber glove work on EHV transmission systems
- Transmission-specific rigging certification
- High Angle Rescue
- Experience working under approve Transmission Construction Procedures (TCPs)
