Description
Starport is seeking highly qualified and motivated Stretch Therapy Specialists to join our expanding Fitness & Wellness team at the NASA Exchange Johnson Space Center. This role supports the delivery of evidence-based recovery and mobility services designed to improve member flexibility, movement quality, physical performance, recovery, and overall well-being.
Qualified candidates must demonstrate a strong professional presence, commitment to continuous learning, and the ability to provide high-quality client-centered stretch therapy services. Candidates must possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, biomechanics, mobility principles, flexibility training, assisted stretching techniques, and effective client education strategies.
This position requires the ability to deliver safe, effective, and individualized stretch therapy sessions while maintaining compliance with organizational standards and industry best practices. The Stretch Therapy Specialist will work collaboratively with the Wellness Coordinator and other Fitness & Wellness service professionals to provide an integrated wellness experience focused on measurable outcomes, education, and long-term member success.
Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all current and prospective clients while creating an inclusive, supportive, and professional wellness environment.
- Conduct comprehensive client consultations including health history review, needs analysis, mobility evaluation, flexibility screening, and goal identification.
- Design and implement individualized stretch therapy sessions using evidence-based principles aligned with client goals, abilities, mobility restrictions, and wellness objectives.

- Dynamic stretching
- Active-assisted stretching
- Mobility-focused techniques
- Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) techniques when appropriate
- Utilize knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and movement patterns to identify mobility restrictions, flexibility limitations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Modify stretch therapy sessions based on client feedback, assessment findings, mobility limitations, and individual goals.
- Perform ongoing evaluations by utilizing client feedback, wellness metrics, and progress tracking data to assess service effectiveness, monitor client outcomes, and make informed adjustments.
- Document client assessments, session outcomes, progress updates, recommendations, and service notes within designated tracking systems.
- Serve as a knowledgeable educator by helping clients understand stretch therapy techniques, mobility strategies, recovery principles, flexibility improvement, and long-term wellness behaviors.
Team Collaboration & Wellness Support
- Collaborate with the Wellness Coordinator and Fitness & Wellness service professionals to communicate client progress, provide integrated wellness recommendations, and support a comprehensive member experience.
- Support Fitness & Wellness initiatives by actively participating in wellness clinics, member education events, workshops, presentations, and community engagement opportunities.
- Assist in developing and delivering educational presentations focused on mobility, flexibility, recovery strategies, injury prevention, and healthy lifestyle behaviors.
- Demonstrate the ability to understand and apply fitness and wellness data to support client progress, service recommendations, and program effectiveness.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professional appearance of stretch therapy areas and equipment.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with supervisors via phone, email, and in person.
- Attend and actively participate in Fitness & Wellness departmental meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Carry out all responsibilities with integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of departmental operations.
Qualified Candidate
- Demonstrated ability to positively motivate, educate, and support clients through structured mobility, flexibility, and recovery programming.
- Holds a current certification from a nationally recognized organization in Assisted Stretch Therapy or specialized stretch therapy certification program.
- Maintains current nationally recognized CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
- Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology, sports medicine, health sciences, rehabilitation science, human movement studies, or related field preferred.
