American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 1 Trauma Academic Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC, requiring at least 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience and strong telemetry and drip management skills.

29-bed Med/Surg Telemetry unit within a large 885-bed academic medical center with Level 1 Trauma, Chest Pain Center, and Stroke Center designations
-
Patient population includes general medicine diagnoses such as diabetes, GI, respiratory, renal, and wound care
-
Common procedures include chest tube and trach management, PIV starts, drain and tube management, and PCA pump management
-
Drip management includes Amiodarone, Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, and Heparin
-
Patient ratios: RN 1:5–6; CNA 1:9–10
-
Centralized telemetry monitoring with telemetry tech support

EMR: Epic (experience required)
-
IV pump: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell
-
12-hour night shifts starting at 1800, 36 hours per week
-
Every other weekend rotation required
-
No on-call or call-back requirements

Floating may be required to: 8 North, 9 North A/B, ACE, 9 Ardmore, 10 Ardmore, 8 North-B, and 8 Ardmore

Active NC RN license or compact RN license currently in hand

Current BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry (MST) experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
-
Experience reading and interpreting telemetry strips required
-
Proficiency with chest tubes, trachs, PIV starts, drains and tubes, and PCA pumps required
-
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to work collaboratively in a high-stress environment
-
Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
-
Provide direct and indirect patient care to a general medicine telemetry population, including lab draws and phlebotomy (shared responsibility with RN)
-
Department support includes CNAs, Receptionist/HUC, Charge Nurse, Rapid Response Team, RT 24/7, Hospitalist 24/7, and Intensivist 24/7; no IV/VAT Team on unit
-
Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
