Job Description
We are seeking a motivated Graduate Engineer (EIT) to join our Geotechnical and Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to build hands-on experience in geotechnical investigations, laboratory testing, and construction material testing & quality assurance, while working toward PE licensure under the mentorship of senior staff. You will support field exploration, field testing, lab testing & analysis, and proposal/fee and report preparation for a variety of public and private sector projects, including highway, municipal, utilities and commercial developments projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and execution of geotechnical field investigations, including soil borings, sampling, and in-situ testing
- Perform materials testing and QA/QC for soils, concrete, asphalt, and aggregate on active construction projects.
- Coordinate with drilling crews, technicians, and construction personnel to ensure project schedules and quality standards are met
- Log and classify soil and rock samples in accordance with ASTM/AASHTO standards
- Oversee typical geotechnical laboratory testing and conduct advanced Geotechnical laboratory testing
- Analyze field and lab data to support geotechnical engineering recommendations
- Assist in preparing geotechnical data and engineering reports, and construction observation reports under the direction of a licensed PE
- Support design tasks for foundation, retaining structures, earth work and pavement as directed
- Maintain accurate field documentation, daily reports, and testing records
- Assist in preparing geotechnical and CMT service proposals, including scope, fee, and schedule inputs
- Travel to project/job sites as needed, including some regional travel
You’ll thrive here if you have
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (Geotechnical emphasis preferred) from an ABET-accredited program
1–3 years of relevant geotechnical and/or CMT experience
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required (or passed FE exam and actively pursuing EIT)
Working knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO/TxDOT testing standards and methods
Familiarity with soil/rock classification and basic geotechnical engineering principles
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; exposure to geotechnical software (see above) is a plus
Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical report writing
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and lift/carry field equipment (up to 50 lbs)
Ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
Ability to obtain missing certification within 6 months of hire.
Ability to use and navigate SiteManager and Metafield is a plus.
Currently have or able to obtain or already have Concrete Field-Testing Technician - Grade I, ACI-Strength,HMAC Level1A
Geotechnical Software (Preferred/Familiarity a Plus)

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the state’s law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.
