Humphrey, Farrington and McClain is searching for an Executive Legal Assistant to join our team! We represent clients both locally and nationally and are recognized as a top firm throughout the country. Our firm practices in many areas of law, including Business Planning, Wills, Probate, Estate Planning and Real Estate. Our central location in Independence, Missouri on the historic square is an easy commute from most all locations and means that there is no Kansas City Earnings Tax.

Job Responsibilities of the Legal Assistant:
- Manage a complex and frequently changing calendar while proactively identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts.
- Coordinate meetings with attorneys, clients, experts, community leaders, public officials, and other external contacts.
- Arrange travel, lodging, transportation, and detailed itineraries.
- Serve as a professional liaison between Ken and internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage communications and follow-up items to ensure commitments and priorities remain on track.
- Support Ken’s civic, charitable, business, and community engagements, including coordination with outside organizations and project leaders.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
Trial Support:
- Travel with Ken and the trial team as needed.
- Coordinate trial logistics, including lodging, transportation, expert and witness travel, meals, and other operational needs.
- Assist the trial team with administrative and logistical support before and during trial.
- Help ensure firm, client, and community obligations continue to run smoothly while Ken is engaged in trial.
Job Requirements of the Executive Legal Assistant:
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong judgment and the ability to solve problems independently.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Professional presence and confidence when interacting with clients, attorneys, experts, public officials, and community leaders.
- High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential matters.
- Flexibility to travel and support active trial schedules.
- Prior experience in executive support, senior legal assistant work, trial support, or a related role is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with standard legal and office technology and the ability to quickly learn firm-specific systems.
