Duties
- Assist licensed physical therapists in developing and executing personalized treatment plans for patients in skilled nursing facilities.
- Perform therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques such as trigger point therapy, and other modalities to support patient recovery.
- Operate medical equipment safely and effectively during therapy sessions, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
- Document clinical assessments, treatment progress, and discharge planning accurately following clinical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals—including physicians, nurses, and occupational therapists—to coordinate comprehensive care plans.
- Communicate clearly with patients and caregivers to explain procedures, address concerns, and motivate ongoing participation in therapy programs.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) efficiently to ensure accurate medical documentation and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Experience
- Prior experience working in physical therapy settings such as inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, orthopedics, geriatrics, and medical terminology relevant to physical therapy practice.
- Hands-on experience with clinical assessment documentation and implementing physical therapy treatments including manual therapy techniques like trigger point therapy.
- Familiarity with medical equipment operation used in physiotherapy sessions and electronic health records (EHR) management systems.
- Experience working with geriatrics and those requiring discharge planning or skilled nursing care is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills for effective caregiver and client interaction to ensure understanding of care plans and progress updates.
