Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Controller to lead our financial operations and ensure the integrity of our accounting practices. This dynamic role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, reporting, compliance, and internal controls. Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processing using advanced financial software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory requirements relevant to nonprofit and governmental accounting sectors.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes with precision, including balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports, statements, and analyses that support strategic decision-making and meet regulatory reporting standards.
- Lead internal controls development and implementation to safeguard assets and ensure adherence to policies.
- Conduct cash management activities including forecasting, liquidity analysis, and bank reconciliations to optimize cash flow.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation related to financial concepts such as debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
- Support budgeting processes by analyzing variances and providing insights for future financial planning.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting standards and industry best practices to continuously improve financial procedures.
Skills
- Extensive experience with GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance, governmental accounting, nonprofit accounting, and public accounting environments.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms; strong technical accounting skills are essential.
- Solid understanding of financial concepts including balance sheet reconciliation, account analysis, double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits.
- Expertise in cash management strategies including forecasting and liquidity optimization.
- Ability to prepare detailed financial reports with clarity and accuracy; excellent financial report writing skills are required.
- Strong analytical skills with the capacity to interpret complex financial data for strategic insights.
- Knowledge of regulatory reporting requirements pertinent to nonprofit or governmental organizations.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes along with payroll administration.
