Our articles are research-driven rather than opinion pieces. While each writer brings a unique perspective to their work, AVFCA articles are not written in the first person and are not personal essays. The focus remains on the research, the evidence, and the questions being explored.
We publish long-form journalism that explores complex topics through careful research, critical thinking, and clear communication. Our goal is not to promote partisan narratives or sensational headlines, but to help readers better understand the evidence, ask thoughtful questions, and make informed decisions.
We're looking for writers who can:
- Conduct independent research and evaluate scientific literature
- Translate complex information into engaging, accessible language
- Write nuanced, evidence-based articles for a general audience
- Follow editorial guidelines and incorporate feedback professionally
- Meet deadlines consistently
- Be a team player (every article is the result of group effort)
Ideal candidates may have backgrounds in journalism, science writing, health communications, research, public policy, or related fields.
Topics may include:

- Consumer awareness
